Activities and what we
do
Since it’s founding, DeMolay in Maryland
has participated in a great variety of
beneficial activities such as charitable
fund-raising drives for the Muscular
Dystrophy through The Tall Cedars Of
Lebanon, Shriners Hospitals for Burns
and Crippled Children, Christmas Seals,
Canned Food drives for needy families
and the many more. Very much aware of
Patriotism, DeMolays have always
participated in organized parades for
the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and other
national holidays. Traditionally,
DeMolays also have revered the memory of
George Washington and of America’s
fighting men by laying wreaths at the
tomb at Mt. Vernon and at the tomb of
the Unknown Soldier at Arlington
Cemetery. In fact the way in which we
pray kneeling on our left knee is
emblematic of the way in which our
founding father prayed while at Valley
Forge. Similarly aware of the need
of Religion in life, DeMolays have taken
an active part in public worship
services by reading parts from the Bible
and Gospels in fellow member's shrines
of faith. Another activity of great
interest has been in the field of
athletics. Depending on the season of
the year and the interest of the
members; softball, basketball, flag
football, bowling and riffle
competitions and various other athletic
activities have been organized. DeMolay
recognizes the world's need for good and
consecrated leadership in our
communities and advancing world we live
in today. We teach our members the
lessons of responsibility, sacrifice,
and humility of leadership roles within
and outside the chapter setting
and we make these teachings a central
role in our organization.
