Dr. Wilhelmsen inducted into the the DeMolay Hall of Fame
November brought a very special event to Maryland. SGIG Hans Wilhelmsen opened the doors of the Scottish Rite Temple for a reception in honor of the International Master Councilor and the Grand Master of DeMolay. Both were in DC, along with most of the DeMolay International Line for a Communications Conference to be held that weekend in DC. The evening was an electric one for it had been many, many years since this amount of the International Line had been in Maryland. There were close to 100 people in the Grand Hall for this event. The Grand Master of DeMolay showed off his electric guitar made as a DeMolay emblem and specially carved acoustical guitar featuring all the DeMolay emblems through the years as well as a picture of Jacques DeMolay and all the Masonic Bodies emblems. Howie Damrom, Masonic crooner, entertained the crowd with his Masonic songs. The evening was topped off by the Grand Master of DeMolay awarding SGIG Wilhelmsen with his induction into the DeMolay Hall of Fame. SGIG Wilhelmsen will be there along with the likes of Walt Disney, Walter Cronkite and John Wayne.

Maryland DeMolay Mourns the loss of a True Marine and Brother

Chevalier Observance and Court Installation
The Maryland DeMolay Court of Chevaliers held their annual observance   on November 8th at the Grand Lodge.  Dinner and brotherhood were shared by all.  The Court would like to thank Dad England, (Jr)PGC and the Parents Club for serving a delicious meal.  The Court later installed the officers for the next year.  The new Grand Commander pledges a revival of court activities and brotherhood started by the previous GC.  Dad DeBold also dedicated his year to the memory of one of his former State Officers when he was SMC to Brother Charlie Cartwright.  To see more of what the Court is doing check out the Courts New page coming soon!
Maryland DeMolay looses a Beloved Advisor
It is with sadness that we report that one of our dedicated and beloved advisors pass to the other shore.  "Dad" Wilbur Penley was a long time advisor associated with Nelson J. Briggs Chapter and staff member of
Maryland DeMolay.   "Dad" Penley was also the father of Paul Penley who died in a car crash while serving as State Chaplain in 1979 who is the namesake of the Penley Bible awarded to overall best chaplain in the Ron Shaver State Tournament. Dad Penley was a DeMolay L.O.H., PM from Mt. Arrarat Lodge and member of Crusade Commandery and Phoenix Chapter as well as a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason.  His Family has asked that those desiring to do so make contributions to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in his memory.  For more information contact the webmaster.

Grand Master's of Masons in Maryland Initiation Class
Maryland DeMolay had the distinction of
honoring Dad Tom Velvin, Jr. MWGM of Masons in MD at our Grand Master's Initiation Class.  Thirty two Freemasons received the degrees of a DeMolay. Additionally 3 DeMolay members were initiated the same day along side the Grand Master. The inaugural class of the Warren Seipp Honorary DeMolay Chapter received their patents of Honorary Membership as well as purple and Yellow ribbon with a gold star for an officer and silver star for a regular honorary member.  No other Honorary DeMolays will receive a star device on their ribbon.  After the ceremony Dad Ponzillo, RWDGM of Masons in Maryland and Honorary ISC member, gave a presentation on what Warren Seipp meant to Maryland Freemasonry and DeMolay.
